City of Auburn logoThe City of Auburn is pleased to announce that a job offer has been made to Sean Rabe to be Auburn’s new city manager.

With the resignation of former City Manager John Donlevy, the city began recruiting for a replacement and according to Mayor Alice Dowdin-Calvillo, “we were extremely fortunate to have received over 35 applications for the position from which we interviewed four highly qualified candidates.” After a series of interviews the city council unanimously offered the position to Sean. Contract negotiations are expected to result in a contract being approved at the May 8 City Council meeting with a start date in early June.

Sean is currently the Loomis town manager where he has successfully led the town since 2017.  Prior to Loomis, he was city manager in Colma and in Sutter Creek. Sean brings proven success in project development having negotiated the new Costco store that will open this fall in Loomis, navigating through a General Plan update, strategic planning to determine city vision and priorities and fostering employee relations. The Loomis Chamber of Commerce named him 2023 Businessman of the Year for his work in bringing business to the town and the support he has shown in that community.

Sean knows Placer County and Auburn and is excited to become part of the Auburn team. “I am ready to get started and am enthusiastic about the opportunities the city has.  I am very much looking forward to integrating myself into the community as quickly as possible and am excited to be a part of Auburn’s future”.
