The City of Pinole is pleased to announce the appointment of Pinole Police Chief Neil H. Gang as the new Interim City Manager, effective October 1, 2023. Neil brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in municipal leadership to our city.
Gang has served in law enforcement for over 35 years and has been the Chief of Police for the Pinole Police Department since 2014. He holds a Master’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego and has a strong commitment to public service. Gang is a graduate of the prestigious Northwestern School of Police Staff Command, where he was both the president of the class and the recipient of the Franklin M. Kremel Award for excellence in the field of leadership.
In his capacity as Pinole Police Chief, Gang has demonstrated his dedication to the well-being and progress of our community, receiving multiple awards for his work. This year, he was named the California Police Chiefs Association Joe Malloy Winner. In 2020, he received the honorable award for Public Safety Hero of the Year by the House of Representatives. His ability to navigate complex municipal challenges, engage with diverse stakeholders, and drive innovation makes him an excellent choice to lead our city during this transitional period.
The Mayor and City Council believe that Gang will provide steady leadership and ensure the continuity of essential city services while the search for a permanent City Manager is underway. He will work closely with city staff, elected officials, and community members to address current priorities and continue building on the progress made in Pinole.
