At the final meeting of 2023, the Yucca Valley Town Council reorganized to select a new mayor and mayor pro tem for 2024. The Town Council unanimously confirmed Council Member Robert Lombardo as mayor for 2024 and Council Member Jeff Drozd as mayor pro tem. The Yucca Valley Town Council selects a mayor and mayor pro tem from the Town’s five elected council members on an annual basis.
“As mayor, you have the opportunity to listen to the needs and interests of the community and collaborate with fellow council members, Town staff and residents to create and support a thriving community,” said Mayor Lombardo. “I’m looking forward to serving as the mayor of Yucca Valley once again.”
Originally elected to Town Council in 2012 and re-elected twice––in 2016 and 2020–– Mayor Lombardo previously served as mayor in 2019. He is also assigned to a number of regional boards and committees.
Newly appointed Mayor Pro Tem Drozd was first elected to Town Council in 2016, with re-election to his seat in 2020. He serves on a number of Town and Regional Committees while maintaining considerable community involvement, including serving as a member of the Desert Solid Waste JPA, Yucca Valley Sports Council and Morongo Basin Transit.
“Councilmember Lombardo will do an excellent job serving as mayor,” commented Mayor Pro Tem Drozd. “I look forward to supporting him and the rest of the council as we put Yucca Valley’s best foot forward in 2024.”
