The City of Palmdale is excited to celebrate City Manager Ronda Perez’s esteemed Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Perez is one of over 1,300 local government management professionals credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program.
ICMA’s mission is to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation and ethics and by increasing the proficiency of appointed chief administrative officers, assistant administrators and other employees who serve local governments and regional entities around the world. The organization’s 13,000 members in 27 countries also include educators, students and other local government employees.
To receive the prestigious ICMA credential, a member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government; have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field; and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity and to lifelong learning and professional development.
“We are so proud of Ronda for her achievement,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “This designation showcases her professional accomplishment, dedication to lifelong learning and drive for community improvement. It is inspiring to see her hard work recognized on a national level.”
Perez is qualified by more than 15 years of professional local government executive experience. Prior to her appointment in 2023 as Palmdale’s city manager, she served as interim city manager and assistant city manager. Perez has held local government roles for other agencies, including Parks, Recreation and Arts director and assistant city manager, and executive director of Antelope Valley Economic Development and Growth Enterprise (AV EDGE). She has extensive experience in capital project management, landscape maintenance, park development, program creation and implementation, special events, entrepreneurial ventures, strategic planning, communications, code enforcement, housing, economic development, finance and public works/development services management.
“I want to offer my sincere congratulations to Ronda for being named an ICMA Credentialed Manager,” said Mayor Pro Tem Richard J. Loa. “This widely respected designation demonstrates her continuous and diligent work to increase the quality of life in Palmdale for all residents. She models a dedicated commitment to lifelong learning and professional development that makes her an ideal candidate for this honor. Most of all, through her leadership, she has brought stability to City staff after a difficult period of instability brought on by the previous City Manager.”
