The City of Hawthorne is dedicated to creating a business-friendly environment. This commitment is evident through initiatives such as the Hawthorne Business Connect and the Commercial Facade Programs.
“By investing in our local businesses, we not only strengthen our local economy but also bolster our strong sense of community” said City Manager Vontray Norris. “These collaborative efforts support the growth and well-being of all in Hawthorne, embodying our motto of ‘The City of Good Neighbors.’”
The Hawthorne Business Connect Program was established to provide a valuable platform for business owners to connect and access City resources. Aimed at achieving and maintaining economic stability in Hawthorne, this initiative creates an open line of communication between the public and private sectors, encouraging a shared vision for growth and success within the community.
The Business Connect program recently hosted an End of the Year Business Social on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Midici Restaurant, located at the Courtyard Marriott across from City Hall (4429 W El Segundo Blvd.). Attendees enjoyed refreshments while networking with directors from city departments and members of the local business community and exploring partnership opportunities.
In addition to Business Connect, Hawthorne’s planning commission recently approved construction plans to refresh local brick-and-mortar businesses. These plans are funded through the City’s Commercial Facade Program, which focuses on improving the exterior sides of buildings at little to no cost to the business owner. The program aims to stimulate private investment and improve the City’s visual appeal, attracting tourism and fostering community engagement.
Eligible businesses will receive up to $30,000 in grant funding for each verified full-time employee, provided they maintain this position for at least twelve months. The program is supported by the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and will be available until all allocated funds are exhausted.
