City of Redwood City

Located in the heart of the Silicon Valley on the San Francisco Peninsula, Redwood City serves a population of 86,754. As a result of a recent organizational assessment, the City has created a new Engineering & Transportation Department consisting of 24 FTE and a FY 2023-24 Capital Budget more than $50 million in general infrastructure, and transportation and utility infrastructure projects.

Reporting to the new Director, the Assistant Director will have functional responsibility for managing the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and leading the review of design and improvement plans for private development projects among other responsibilities. Ideal candidates will be exceptional project managers and have prior experience coordinating a complex CIP and leading engineering functions in a comparable environment. Competitive professionals will possess a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, including two (2) years of service in a lead or supervisory capacity, and a Bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree and/or registration as a professional civil engineer in the State of California is desirable.
