The City of San Leandro (pop. 90,000 approx.) is located in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area and is one of the most diverse cities in the country. The Assistant City Manager will be responsible for Finance, Human Resources, Library Services, Information Technology, and oversee the Deputy City Manager and major initiatives. San Leandro is supported by a workforce of 432 FTE and a FY2020-21 total budget of $190 million (General Fund $120 million).
The ideal candidate will be a valued, trusted, and highly strategic business partner with the demonstrated ability to lead change and efficiently manage a substantial portfolio of priorities. This results-oriented leader will also possess a passion for strategic planning and be committed to ongoing workforce development and culture strengthening efforts. Competitive candidates will offer a minimum of six years of relevant municipal government management experience. A bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree preferred.
