We are  seeking a creative thinker who is a highly collaborative professional who thrives on the challenge of  building an innovative and service oriented, fast paced communications and marketing program.  We are in search of a committed team player to be a liaison with department leadership to  champion, develop and implement a comprehensive, strategic communications and marketing  plan to ensure key messages are developed and promoted through all communication platforms  and channels. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement strategies to communicate and promote City initiatives and  activities and encourage public involvement 
  • Produce and coordinate communications and marketing efforts through website, social  media, public events, meetings, and presentations 
  • Create internal and external communications such as electronic newsletters, brochures,  web content, social media content, press releases, speeches, and presentations Drive civic engagement through community education, events and activities Lead departmental outreach strategy, organize and participate in special events in the  community including booth setup, volunteer coordination, bilingual outreach planning, and  other duties related to in-person engagement 

Ideal Candidate: 

The ideal candidate should possess: 

  • A proven track record of implementing effective and creative communication strategies in a  variety of print and digital media 
  • History of establishing credibility, earning trust, and confidence of team members Three or more years of experience in public relations, media relations, corporate  communications, social media management, or public affairs, and a knowledge of graphic  design desired 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Public  Administration, Business Administration, or related field 
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, Adobe Suite, Mac OS, strong knowledge/familiarity  with Internet and web-based communications 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications/interpersonal skills 
  • Spanish language proficiency and/or experience in integrating bilingual outreach strategy  and interpretation coordination
