The City of Alhambra (pop. 86,258) is located in one of the most vibrant sections of the San Gabriel Valley, just eight miles east of Downtown Los Angeles. The city is known for its astute blend of housing, business, employment, and recreational opportunities and is home to some of the area’s strongest retail centers. The Alhambra Fire Department serves this diverse community from four fire stations with the support of 70 full-time and 2 part-time staff and a FY2021-22 budget of $20.9 million.

The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking leader who is well-versed in contemporary practices and offers a history of creating opportunities to innovate. A team player, he/she must convey a commitment to a broader organizational mission. Competitive candidates will possess at least ten years of increasingly responsible experience, including five years of management/supervisory experience with a minimum of two years at the Chief Officer level, and a Bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree is desirable.
