Pasadena Water & Power

The City of Pasadena is approximately ten miles northeast of downtown L.A. at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, with a residential population of 144,000 and a daytime population of 250,000. Pasadena Water & Power Department (PWP) is a community-owned utility supplying water and electricity to Pasadena and nearby areas. The General Manager (GM) reports to the City Manager and is supported by 419 employees and a $333.5 million FY2024 budget.  

The GM will focus on long-term resource management and environmental protection and embrace ambitious environmental goals reflecting Pasadena’s values. Experience in both utilities is not required; however, the department’s size and importance warrant exceptional leadership and people management skills.

Any combination of experience and education that ensures acceptable job performance will be considered qualifying. Typically, this includes five years of progressively complex industry management experience and a Bachelor’s degree. Sophisticated and current industry knowledge required. Public sector experience desirable.
