Established in 2021, CEA currently serves more than 250,000 residential and business customers and is focused on achieving 100% renewable energy by 2035 to reduce greenhouse emissions. CEA employees operate in a hybrid environment, working from home most days and reporting to the office at least once per week. Occasional local travel is required to attend CEA events, meetings, conferences, and workshops. This arrangement may change as the needs of CEA change.
The Role of the Key Accounts Specialist/Analyst
As the organization transitions from a successful start-up to a trusted, reliable, long-term clean energy provider, CEA is strategically expanding its team. The Key Accounts Specialist/Analyst is a new position that will report to the Key Accounts/Programs managers and be responsible for a wide range of duties.
This person will support manage key customer account relationships and support comprehensive programs dedicated to residential and non-residential customer engagement and solutions. They will be involved in broad range of activities relating to key account management including marketing, customer relations, and customer assistance. They will help to implement customer agreements; develop innovative solutions to customer problems; prepare reports and business plans relating to existing and potential customer services; assess community issues and concerns as they relate to CEA’s business; develop and conduct workshops and seminars for customers; conduct customer retention activities; act as a point of contact for customers in resolving utility issues; and support CEA business.
In addition, this individual will represent CEA at industry events and support the activities of CEA’s Community Advisory Committee. This position may also be the main point of contact and CEA’s data manager for elevated customer contacts and issue resolution. Key focus areas include:
- Prepare communications and marketing material to educate residential and non-residential customers about the need for and benefits of reducing electric use; promote vehicle electrification and other programs that reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with major energy users, recruit and retain non-residential customers
- Work closely with other CEA departments (Finance and Data, Power Supply, Legislative & Regulatory), the Community Advisory Committee (CAC), consultants, stakeholders, and other partner agencies to ensure the success of energy programs and strategic initiatives
- Develop and implement strategies to measure and improve customer experience; design programs, processes, and service responses to any issues that may arise; prepare resolutions to customer issues in coordination with CEA’s data manager and call center staff
- Collaborate with Member Agencies’ staff to support regional electrification, policy initiatives, and local climate action plans
- Identify trends in energy technologies, utility programs, and customer needs to support program development and design recommendations.
- Support all aspects of program-related community outreach and education initiatives, including presenting to community groups and coordinating event logistics
- Draft staff reports and prepare presentations for Board and Committee meetings
- Interact with and support customers and members of the public to answer questions, provide information, and facilitate participation in customer programs
The Ideal Candidate

They build and maintain trust-based relationships with community members, local businesses, other publicly owned utilities, and professional organizations. Experience with Excel, Constant Contact, Word Press, Microsoft Dynamics CRM or Salesforce is highly desirable.
The selected candidate will have a cooperative, flexible, and entrepreneurial attitude. They will be responsible, accountable, and efficient with their time.
Qualifying Education and Experience
This position may be filled at the Specialist or Analyst level, depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The following criteria will be used to determine appropriate placement:
Key Accounts Specialist – Salary: $85,000 – $150,000 per year, DOQ. Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance. Example combination includes a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in statistics, finance, communications, political science, sustainability, environmental science, mathematics, accounting, economics, business administration, or any other related field AND at least three (3) years experience in customer, governmental, or public relations, marketing, or sales. Prior experience working at a public utility or CCA is highly desired. A strong network of local contacts will be advantageous.
Key Accounts Analyst – Salary: $80,000 – $125,000 per year, DOQ. Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance. Example combination includes a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major work in statistics, finance, communications, political science, sustainability, environmental science, mathematics, accounting, economics, business administration, or any other related field AND at least one (1) year of experience in customer, governmental, or public relations, marketing, or sales. Prior experience working at a public utility or CCA is highly desired. A strong network of local contacts will be advantageous.
