The City of Riverside is recruiting for a dynamic and highly experienced Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director to manage the day-to-day planning, developing, coordinating and overseeing of a comprehensive recreation program and the construction and maintenance of all parks, recreation areas, parkways and related buildings.

Education and Experience: 

Education:   A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation administration, sociology, human relations, or a closely related field. A Master’s Degree in a related field is highly desirable.

Experience:  Six years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in the recreation and park program management and land use planning.

Necessary Special Requirement:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class “C” California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with elected and appointed officials, other government agencies, public and private partners, community leaders and customers and the general public.

  • Certification as a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE).
  • A Master’s degree in Public Administration (M.P.A.), Business Administration (M.B.A.), Recreation and Park Administration (M.S.), or related field of study.
