The City of San Leandro is a well-established community of approximately 90,000 residents and one of the Bay Area’s most diverse cities. The Recreation and Parks Department was recently established to bring together recreation programs with park/urban landscape maintenance from other City Departments. The Department’s FY 2023-24 budget totals $18.2 million and is supported by 26 full-time staff members and additional part-time/seasonal staff (35 FTE).
The City of San Leandro is seeking an energetic and community-minded leader to join its leadership team. With a track record for effectively leading positive change, ideal candidates will bring strong business acumen and a fresh perspective to the department’s efforts to build and enhance special events and reimagine recreational programs. Candidates must also have a reputation as an inspiring and fun recreation and parks professional.
Requires six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience administering recreation and parks programs, including four (4) years in a management capacity, and a Bachelor’s degree.
