Lodi City Manager Konradt “Rad” Bartlam has been appointed to serve as the next Chino Hills City Manager. Rad has been the Lodi City Manager in San Joaquin County since May 2010. Rad will succeed City Manager Mike Fleager who retired after 14-yeras with the city, and serving as City Manager since February, 2009 following Doug La Belle’s retirement.

Auburn City Manager Bob Richardson will be the new Grass Valley City Manager. He will be taking over for Interim City Manager Jeff Foltz. Former Grass Valley City Administrator Dan Holler is currently serving as the Interim Town Manager in Mammoth Lakes. Bob’s last day in Auburn will be February 6. Bob served as the Lemon Grove City Manager for 6-years prior to taking the Auburn City Manager post in 2003.

Susan Slayton has been serving as the Acting City Manager since Morro Bay City Manager Andrea Lueker resigned under pressure December 12, 2013. Susan was serving as the City’s Administrative Services Director. She joined the Morro Bay City staff in 2007, previously serving as the Finance Director.

Ontario City Manager Chris Hughes, a former Ontario Fire Chief, Chris filled the vacancy created when City Manager Greg Devereaux took the San Bernardino County Chief Executive Officer position in January, 2010. Though leaving the City Manager post, he may be retained to continue negotiations regarding the Ontario International Airport Authority.

Longtime Diamond Bar Assistant City Manager David Doyle has been selected to be the next City Manager in the City of Aliso Viejo. David replaces City Manager Mark Pulone, who left the position in July to become the Yorba Linda City Manager. Previous to joining the Diamond Bar staff, David worked for Manhattan Beach. He will be the 4th Aliso Viejo City Manager in its brief 12-year history when he takes over in February.

Stacey LoMedico is the new San Diego Assistant Chief Operating Officer. Stacey is the former head of the San Diego Park and Recreation Department. She is a near-30-year city employee.

Retired Contra Costa County Administrator Phil Batchelor is the new Interim City Manager in the City of Hercules. He fills in behind City Manager Steve Duran, who leaves in January to serve as the Antioch City Manager. Steve has previously served as Interim City Manager in Richmond and Vallejo. Phil will be tasked with helping Hercules recruit a full-time City Manager.

Former Santa Monica Deputy City Manager Mona Miyasato is the new CEO for the County of Santa Barbara. Mona joined the Marin County staff in 2008 and served as Chief Assistant County Administrator there. She earned a BA from the University of California, Berkeley and an MPP from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Montclair and Upland have agreed to combine the administration of their Fire Departments in an effort to reduce the cost of service. Both Cities have approved a two-year pilot program to begin a merger of the two departments. Upland Fire Chief Rick Mayhew will serve as the Fire Chief for both City’s departments. Montclair City Manager is Edward Starr and the Upland City Manager is Stephen Dunn.

South San Francisco City Attorney Steven T. Mattas also serves as the city’s Interim City Manager. Steve is also the Town Attorney for the Town of Los Altos Hills. Former City
Manager Barry M. Nagel retired in November. Barry worked with the City of South San Francisco for about 35-years, and served as City Manager for 9-years.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Chief Roberta Abner was honored at the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation’s Twice A Citizen event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. The Twice A Citizen award was designed to honor extraordinary members of the community who work toward empowering greatness. Chief Abner has done an outstanding job leading the Southern California Law Enforcement Torch Run efforts, and maintains a remarkable effort to included reserves to join her team.

Willdan Business Development Senior Vice President Frank G. Tripepi, a California State University, Fullerton graduate, and retired Rosemead City Manager, currently sits as a member of the Board of Governors for the Rose Institute of State and Local Government at Claremont McKenna College.

Brea City Manager Tim O’Donnell is taking a Leave of Absence to address medical issues. He could be away from the city hall offices for a couple of months. Administrative Services Director Bill Gallardo will serve as the Acting City Manager in Tim’s absence.

Oakland City Administrator Deanna Santana is in the final six candidates for the Dallas, Texas City Manager recruitment.

Eureka Interim City Manager Mike Knight has been serving during the recruitment period for a new City Manager. Former City Manager David Tyson served as the Eureka City Manager for more than 10-years. The city is looking to hire a new City Manager by April or May.

Compton Finance Director/City Controller Stephen Ajobiewe is a new Board Member and Treasure for the Independent Cities Finance Authority. Stephen is a CPA, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Information Systems Auditor. Mike McCormick continues to serve as the ICFA President and Debbie Smith is the Executive Director.
