One of the youngest mayors in United States history earned 40 hours of community service after partaking in “malicious annoyance by writing.”

Nineteen-year-old Mayor Michael Sessions used his home computer to hack into the Eastern Michigan University computer network and delete the MySpace and AIM accounts of the user “Thomas,” as reported by the Hillsdale Daily News.

The prank against his former campaign manager, Brandon Thomas, was ruled a misdemeanor.

Sessions also posed as Thomas, sending emails to Thomas’ mother as well as contacting campus authorities.

The Eastern Michigan Police were notified when this behavior was realized.

According to an article by Associated Content, and a release by the City of Hillsdale, Session claimed, “Even though I acted childish, I am still determined to do the adult thing and take responsibility in which I already accepted the punishment.”

“It Could Be Worse” focuses on a range of embarrassing stories out there, dedicated to some of the more interesting happenings with those involved in local government across the country.
