County Supervisor John Moorlach poses the question in the face of declining Orange County Transportation Authority bus ridership.

“Is there a point where maybe a bus system isn’t even necessary?” Moorlach said in an interview with the Orange County Register. “That’s maybe a radical thing, but it seems to me every once in a while you need to have that kind of dialogue.”

Precisely.

One of the great, and largely unappreciated public services John provides is raising questions that expand public policy debate beyond conventional parameters. John can provoke controversy, but he also spurs needed discussion.
