The former mayor of the District of Columbia was arrested on charges of stalking a female acquaintance in a city park.
Already on probation for federal tax evasion, 73-year-old Marion Barry has added a misdemeanor stalking charge to his record, according to ABC News.
The charge stems from a woman who stopped an officer in a park, claiming she was being followed by a man in a car.
Although the female accuser was not named, Barry has stated that he knows the woman.
Barry said he had lunch with the 40-year old woman earlier the same day he was arrested.
Barry, who plans to fight the charges along with police mistreatment, stated his feelings in one word: “betrayed.”
