Marin County ($91, 483) has the highest per capita income of any county in California, according to a 2009 study by the Department of Commerce. The county just north of the Golden Gate Bridge is the fifth highest in the country.
The Bay Area represented well nationwide, also included in the ranking is No. 8 San Mateo ($71,753), No. 10 San Francisco ($71,342) and No. 28 Santa Clara.
There were no Southern California cities that made the Top 30 in the study.

Orange County ($50,463) ranks as the highest in Southern California but still just at No. 78 nationwide.
