The Senate and Assembly Select Committees on Improving State Government will meet on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at the State Capitol from 12:30 to 5 p.m. to have a hearing entitled “Untangling the State and Local Government Relationship: Moving Government Closer to the People.”

CSDA has been invited to participate and plans to have a representative at the hearing to testify on how to better align state and local government responsibilities that allow local governments to have greater flexibility to serve constituents and also ensure that local governments have more fiscal stability.

In September the Senate and Assembly leadership created these committees to find potential new ways to help the Legislature more effectively and efficiently tackle the state’s most pressing governance problems.
