Last week, districts received brochures for the May 11-12, 2010 Special Districts Legislative Days (SDLD). Brochures contain information about the agenda and speakers, legislative reception, legislative visits and more!

All this information, including the option of registering on-line, can also be found on our website at here.

This year’s theme is “Navigating the Road to Reform” and will feature speakers that will discuss critical reform measures under consideration by both voters and the Legislature. In keeping with that theme, attendees will hear about budget and revenue reform from California Forward’s Fred Silva, election reform from Senator Abel Maldonado, redistricting reform from State Auditor Elaine Howle, local government funding reform from League of California Cities Executive Director Chris McKenzie and a report on the fiscal health of California and the impact of current budget proposals from California’s Legislative Analyst Mac Taylor.

Included in the program for SDLD are pre-arranged legislative visits in the Capitol. In order to reserve enough time for CSDA to schedule your visits, we ask that attendees register by April 20 to guarantee a spot!

Reform measures that change the state budget process and the way state and local governments operate are gaining momentum in the legislature. Understanding how the latest reform efforts will affect special districts will allow your district to proactively participate in the reform dialogue and successfully prepare for the day proposals are implemented. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to hear from a range of speakers that will help special district leaders navigate the road to reform.

Register now at www.csda.net/sdld. We look forward to seeing you there!
