The former City Manager of Vernon has been charged corruption after hiring his wife to consult for city services.

Vernon, a mostly industrial city, neighbors scandal-ridden Bell, and defense attorney, Mark Werksman, says its a case of over-zealous over reaction.

The former city administrator of Vernon was charged with corruption for his role in obtaining city jobs for his wife that earned her more than $140,000, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Donal O’Callaghan pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of conflict of interest involving contracts and one of public officer crime for allegedly taking public money for “personal use and the use of another,” according to an indictment Monday by a Los Angeles County grand jury.




O’Callaghan, also known as Daniel Vincent O’Callaghan, faces up to four years and eight months in state prison if convicted.
