Often under recognized, special districts provide most services to California residents. Most of the time, they do their jobs admirably, and deserve recognition.
In the East Bay, the Delta Diablo Sanitation District has earned national recognition in the Acheivement of Excellence in Procurement Award.

Delta Diablo Sanitation District (DDSD) has received the prestigious Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Purchasing Institute. The award recognizes excellence in innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes of procurement departments. DDSD is one of only 38 government agencies in California to receive this award considered to be one of the most coveted and significant awards that can be attained by a public procurement operation.
