Hoping to attract federal grant money for fire services, Stanislaus County Supervisors voted to approve funding for a regional fire data system. The new data system will allow the county’s independent fire agencies to better communicate with each other and save money.

With no discussion, county supervisors on Tuesday agreed to pay $76,000 for a regional data system that could increase chances at federal grants. Eight of the 19 independent fire agencies in this county have been ineligible for such money because of substandard reporting, hampering the others as well.
