Across California many local government incumbents were defeated in November.  As of last Monday most of the new officials have taken office.

During political campaigns it is easy to make claims, charges, and accusations.  Printing political brochures, recording automated phone calls, and attacking an opponent in a debate is easy.  Governing is hard.

When we see campaigns where the candidate rhetoric becomes so heated that life long animosity is created it is likely to create problems.  Local government loses and so do the people we serve.

We at ask all of you reading this to remember that it is harder to be a good winner.   If you just got sworn into office, Congratulations.  Now Lead.  If you are a senior executive then maybe some of these new electeds need to be reminded that they need to be good winners.
