A celebration of Supervisor Charles McGlashan’s life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Marin Center Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium, located at 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m., with the program beginning promptly at 11:00 a.m. The celebration is open to the public.

The event follows tributes made by the Marin County Board of Supervisors yesterday morning to Supervisor McGlashan, who died unexpectedly Sunday from an apparent heart attack. During the first part of the Board’s regular meeting, the Supervisors, County staff, friends, community leaders, and residents expressed their sadness over his passing and fondly remembered his environmental leadership, passion and dedication to community.

Supervisor McGlashan died tragically near Lake Tahoe after a skiing trip on Sunday, March 27. His seat will remain vacant until the Governor of California appoints a replacement, consistent with California law.
