The Associated Builders and Contractors, California Cooperation Committee (ABC-CCC) has announced the appointment of former Missouri State Senator John Loudon as its Executive Director. It’s a group that has been representing the interests of Merit-shop (or non-union) contractors in the ongoing discussions over Project Labor Agreements, Prevailing Wage, and Labor Compliance issues.

An experienced policy-maker and problem solver, Loudon will oversee ABC-CCC’s labor monitoring and compliance initiatives, ensuring that contractors are accountable on major public works projects.

“John Loudon is a visionary leader with the ability to build coalitions and solve complex problems,” ABC-CCC Board of Directors Chairman Lonnie Robinson said. “We conducted a national search to find the best possible leader and John was in a class by himself.  He will represent contractors with integrity, work collaboratively with state and local agencies, and ensure that labor compliance issues are dealt with fairly across the board.”

Prior to joining ABC-CCC, Loudon served as Vice President of Legacy Group of Missouri, Inc., a public relations and marketing firm. In 2000, Loudon was elected to the Missouri State Senate as the youngest serving Senator, where he founded and chaired the Small Business, Insurance and Industrial Relations Committee. During his legislative tenure, he co-authored a unified campaign by Merit Shop contractors to fight project labor agreements, resulting in the passage of the first ever state law limiting the use these agreements.

“I’m honored to join ABC-CCC and become part of a team that is committed to high standards, professional integrity and accountability for a job well done,” Loudon said. “My experience across America is an asset as we work to support a strong construction industry in California. I’m excited about this challenge and optimistic for the future. I’m going hit the ground running and won’t slow down.”

As a public servant, Loudon earned the Spirit of Enterprise Award from the Mo. Chamber of Commerce, the Voice of Missouri Business award from the Associated Industries of Missouri and Home Town Hero by the Independent Electrical Contractors, Inc.  He is married to Dr. Gina Gentry Loudon. They have five children.

ABC-CCC is a non-profit organization that supports local government officials who want to deliver quality public works projects at the best price.  The Association represents contractors and focuses on prevailing wage and labor compliance issues, championing high standards of performance and accountability.
