The city of Modesto held a public hearing in early October to consider changing the name of a street located on the south side of Sylvan Avenue east of Oakdale Road. According to the city report, the Council approved the previous name change request from “Courtney Way” to “Bob’s Way” in 1994.

The scheduled hearing was to consider approving an application by Dr. Magdy S. Elsakr for a street name change from “Bob’s Way” to “Elsakr Way”.

The five properties on Bob’s Way do not have existing addresses in use; therefore renaming the street will not be an encumbrance on any of the property owners. Street name changes are effective 30 days after council approval and cost applicants $600.00.

The city notified the Stanislaus County Regional 911, the United States Postal Service and City departments that would be affected by the street name change. All comments received included a request that the notification of the name change be provided to affected agencies following approval, and that the applicant be required to pay for the cost of replacing the three street name signs.
