Dan Wolk, Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Davis made a declaration of full support for the Yolo County VITA Coalition’s EITC Awareness Campaign for 2013.

The Davis City Council proclaimed its support for the 2013 Yolo CountyVolunteer Income Tax Assistance Collation’s Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Campaign earlier this month. The city is recognizing the significant benefit of additional millions of dollars of tax credits to the county’s low-to-moderate income workers, their families and our communities. The Internal Revenue Service is partnering with local elected officials, school districts and educational institutions, financial institutions, government agencies, committed community volunteers and non-profit groups such as the Yolo Family Resource Center, the Yolo County Department of Employment and Social Services, Rural Innovations and Social Economics, Inc.

According to the staff report, tax preparation assistance helps low-to-moderate income families, the disabled, elderly and limited English proficient take advantage of the federal tax benefits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC).
