Earlier this year, PublicCEO reported on the Twitter-obsessed city clerk who failed to produce council minutes for over a year.

Despite repeated calls for her resignation, Kim Lehmkuhl refused to vacate her elected office. As an elected official, Lehmkuhl could not be fired for her poor performance so the community responded by launching a recall campaign.

Rather than let the public have the last word, Lehmkuhl voluntarily resigned last week in a scathing email sent to Pleasant Hill City Mayor Tim Flaherty.

“This has been an atrocious, incredibly depressing, and mind-numbingly inane experience I would not wish on anyone, writes Lehmkul. “I wish the City the best of luck in finding some schmuck eager to transcribe every last misogynistic joke, self-indulgent anecdote, and pathetic pandering attempt by Council, and every tinfoil hat conspiracy theory, racist aside, and NIMBY asshattery from the lovely council meeting frequent flyers, without which, surely our democracy could not flourish.”

Upon receiving the email, Flaherty responded with a simple and diplomatic, “Your decision is best for you and for the City of Pleasant Hill.”

According to her personal Twitter account, Lehmkuhl took a job in Washington D.C. with Working America, an affiliate of the AFL-CIO that represents non-union workers.
