Calabasas city manager Dr. Gary Lysik announces resignation

City of Calabasas logoOn Monday, May 18, 2020, Dr. Lysik tendered his resignation as Calabasas’ City Manager to the Council effective May 17, 2020 for personal reasons.

Lysik expressed his appreciation for the support of the community, staff, and various City Councilmembers he’s worked alongside during his 17-year tenure: 15- years as Chief Financial Officer, and two years as City Manager. Dr. Lysik said, “Calabasas financial stability and positioning has matured over the past two decades, and I’m very proud to have helped guide that growth.”

In reflection, Lysik is particularly pleased about securing for the City the highest credit rating of AAA offered by Moody’s Financial Services; of establishing a management reserve where previously there had been none; and of his financial guidance in leading the City through the Great Recession. Lysik said, “the City is and remains financially sound. While leaving presents its own unique emotions, I am happy to be leaving the City financially sound.”

As Chief Financial Officer, Lysik saved the City millions of dollars through financing efforts used for the construction of the City Hall, the Library, and the Senior Center. Dr. Lysik feels blessed to have been a part of the City of Calabasas’ early development and proud that he was able to make many significant contributions.

“As I step away from public life in Calabasas to take this time with my family, I will miss my work here, but will do so wishing the City the best in the coming years,” Lysik said.
