Eastern Municipal Water District logoEastern Municipal Water District Vice President Stephen J. Corona this week was elected to the Board of Commissioners for the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) for the western district of Riverside County.

Corona joins the seven-member LAFCO Board as a Special District representative. The LAFCO Board includes two Riverside County supervisors, two City Council representatives, two special district representatives and a member of the public.

The Board’s responsibilities are focused on the regulatory and planning functions related to jurisdictional boundaries for local agencies and their respective services.

Corona has served on EMWD’s Board of Directors since 2018 and was recently re-elected for a second four-year term that will expire in 2026. He previously served on the Board of Directors at Rancho California Water District for 16 years.

Corona serves EMWD’s Division 2, which includes the City of Temecula, the southern and eastern portions of the City of Murrieta and Temecula’s Wine Country.

“I am honored to be able to serve LAFCO and further its important mission of supporting responsible and efficient local governance throughout the region,” Corona said. “I look forward to representing the role that special districts play in serving our community and being an active voice for the residents we serve throughout western Riverside County.”
