Just last month, West Coast Arborists’ very own Street Tree Revival (STR) was selected for the California Resource Recovery Association’s (CRRA) “Outstanding Zero Waste/Recycling Program” award for our urban wood recycling program.
As the largest statewide recycling association, CRRA promotes environmental sustainability in and beyond California through Zero Waste strategies including product stewardship, waste prevention, recycling and composting. The “Outstanding Zero Waste/Recycling Program” award is given to a business, government agency or organization that has excelled in implementing comprehensive programs and services to reduce, reuse, recycle or compost resources that would otherwise have been wasted.
Our Street Tree Revival Division focuses on repurposing trees to both preserve their natural beauty and limit carbon emissions. By salvaging diseased or damaged trees, STR transforms once neglected wood into usable raw lumber, live edge slabs, logs and chips.
As a CRRA member, WCA has the opportunity to work alongside organizations that focus on conservation and waste prevention. Notably, we are able to take part in CRRA’s forums that increase communication among government, industry and environmental organizations.
WCA and the Street Tree Revival Team, including John Mahoney, will be receiving the award at the CRRA Conference in August. For more information on the California Resource Recovery Association, visit: https://www.crra.com/
