The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the City of South San Francisco for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year, which ended on June 30, 2022.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, according to GFOA.

”We are proud to have received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 34th time,” said South San Francisco’s Finance Director Karen Chang.  “We believe attaining this award reflects the City’s commitment to financial transparency by sharing information consistent with the highest standards in governmental financial report.”

The GFOA established the award program in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare annual comprehensive financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.

The GFOA is a professional organization serving more than 21,000 government finance professionals across the United States and Canada whose mission is to advance excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research.
