The County of Monterey is pleased to announce the County of Monterey’s Housing and Community Development (HCD) website was runner–up for a North American 2023 Granicus Digital Government award in the Operational Excellence category.
Making their inclusion into the finals even more impressive was the competitive field; there were a record-breaking number of nominations which included submissions from the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Here is some the work that put HCD into the finalist category which made them a runner–up for this Operational Excellence award:
- HCD staff put their heads together to really think about how users searched for information. Working with the Information Technology Department, created a more streamlined, mobile-friendly, user-friendly website with logical navigation, improved content, greater accessibility, and ease of use.
- They added more digital services and tools along with the creation of a new online Permit Fee Estimator tool to ensure correct fees.
- Continuously adding more and more Spanish translated documents, improving Search Engine Optimization plus updating the webpages for ADA compliancy in an effort to ensure all visitors with disabilities can interpret the data on the website utilizing screen-reading technology.
The Operation Excellence category award is for organizations serving as models in public sector efficiency. The Granicus Award winners were announced in late October.
