The City of Novato welcomes Nick Nguyen as the City’s next Public Works Director overseeing the engineering, maintenance, and administration divisions. Nguyen’s background in Public Works includes project development, budgeting, engineering, construction management, and maintenance and operations.
Having previously served in key roles such as Director of Public Works and City Engineer for various municipalities and public agencies including the Town of Tiburon as well as CalTrans, Nguyen most recently served as Principal Project Delivery Manager for Transportation Authority of Marin.
Interim City Manager Amy Cunningham stated, “With extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, Nick brings a wealth of knowledge and regional transportation expertise to Novato. I am confident that he will be a valuable addition to our team and community.”
Nguyen is a licensed Civil Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cal-Poly Pomona and a Master of Business Administration from the University of San Francisco. In addition to his professional achievements, his civic mindedness extends to community work where he currently volunteers in a variety of non-profit organizations in Marin, including Rotary.

I look forward to being part of the City’s continued vibrancy, with an eye on the future while honoring the past.”
Nguyen will begin his new role on February 12 and will receive an annual base salary of $202,723.
