The City of Palmdale is proud to announce the opening of its new playground and fitness zone at Desert Sands Park, providing a fun and active space for families and children of all ages to enjoy.
The playground is thoughtfully designed with state-of-the-art equipment to promote physical activity and imaginative play in a safe and stimulating environment. Children can climb, slide, spin, and explore while enjoying the park’s fresh air and beautiful surroundings.
The new playground and fitness zone equipment focus on the physical and social aspects of inclusion and child development. Notably, the SkyRun Zip Track offers an exciting motion play activity that feels like flying. The Zero-G seat promotes inclusivity and allows all children to join the fun. The innovative obstacle course includes an eight-foot Traverse Wall, Balance Walk, seven-foot Up & Over net wall and a U-Turn Ramp. The playground also has accessible features for children with disabilities, ensuring everyone can join the fun.
“We are thrilled to bring this new playground and fitness zone to our residents,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “This improvement was made possible by reinvesting Measure AV tax dollars in our community, thanks to Palmdale voters.”
The City is dedicated to enhancing amenities to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. Our parks contribute to physical well-being, improve mental health, strengthen families, and build a stronger community. The new amenities provide ample opportunities for all ages to take advantage of all the park has to offer.
The ribbon-cutting celebration occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Desert Sands Park, located at 39117 3rd St. East. The event featured activities for children and free giveaways.
