EPICIn a move to accelerate the adoption of green transportation, the City of Palmdale is pleased to announce the launch of the Your Ride is EPIC program, initiated by Energy for Palmdale’s Independent Choice (EPIC), the City’s locally managed, non-profit energy provider, which offers renewable energy to residents and local businesses at competitive rates.

Your Ride is EPIC offers eligible customers the opportunity to receive a free (or significantly discounted) plug- in hybrid (PHEV) or electric vehicle (EV) charger.

“Palmdale is at the forefront of innovation and this project is designed to reduce barriers to entry and associated costs for converting to low-emission transportation,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “The initiative marks a pivotal step toward achieving the City’s renewable energy, air quality and climate action goals.”

To qualify, EPIC customers must provide proof of ownership of a PHEV or EV. Once enrolled, each household may purchase a new plug-in EV charger of their choice and receive a reimbursement of up to $250. This offer is available at www.PalmdaleEpicEnergy.com until funds are depleted.

Alternatively, customers may opt for a wall-mounted, level-II charger instead of a plug-in charger (or the installation of an outlet to accommodate a level 2 plug-in charger) and receive up to $550 in reimbursement funds, which can be utilized toward the purchase price of the wall-mounted charger, installation and/or necessary permits. Wall-mounted units or the added outlet must be installed by a licensed electrician. All customers selecting this type of charger will be required to provide proof of installation to EPIC and undergo a final building and safety inspection prior to reimbursement.

The Your Ride is EPIC program is made possible through federal resources from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program and grant funding from the Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District.
