The City of Ventura is introducing Ventura Connects, a new online portal that makes it easier for residents to report issues like potholes, graffiti, and debris. This platform improves accessibility to request types, visibility of requests and reports, and provides real-time updates.
“Our goal is to offer exceptional customer service and make it simple for residents to report issues and track the progress of their requests. Ventura Connects represents a new way for community members to interact with City services,” said City Manager Bill Ayub. “It also demonstrates our dedication to leveraging technology to enhance city service, ensuring the transparency and accountability our residents expect and deserve.”
Ventura Connects offers a mobile-friendly design that allows community members to report issues conveniently from any smartphone, computer, or tablet. Features include photo uploads and GPS-tagged locations for accurate reporting, helping staff accurately identify the location of each request. The platform is accessible 24/7 and provides registered users real-time status updates by email and text message notifications.
“Reporting a pothole or graffiti is now as easy as a few taps on your smartphone,” said Chief Information Officer Mike Shaffer. “Ventura Connects reduces the steps needed to report an issue, making it easier for customers to communicate with City staff. The system streamlines the process significantly, taking only a fraction of the steps required by the previous system which was over 18 years old.”
Users can submit service requests anonymously or create a free account to track requests and see updates. Ventura Connects is available as a mobile app in the Apple Store and Google Play, and requests can be submitted online.
In addition to Ventura Connects, the City has also introduced NextRequest, a new public records management system to enhance responsiveness and consistency in handling public record requests. Community members and media partners can make public records requests and view completed requests through the City’s website at CityofVentura.ca.gov/
