Yucca Valley, CA – The Yucca Valley Town Council held its last meeting of 2024 on December 17, which included the transition of mayoral leadership and recognition of both outgoing and incoming Parks, Recreation and Cultural commissioners.

During the meeting, the Town Council extended its gratitude to outgoing Mayor Robert Lombardo, who has served exceptionally over the past year. The Council unanimously elected Jeff Drozd to serve as Mayor for the upcoming term and Merl Abel to serve as Mayor Pro Tem.

Mayor Drozd expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, sharing, “It is an honor to serve our vibrant community. I look forward to building on the progress we have made and continuing to make Yucca Valley a thriving place for all.”

The Town also recognized the contributions of outgoing commissioners Jery Melby and Andrea Staehle who have completed their terms of service on the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Commission (PRCC). Their dedication and input have played a vital role in local leisure service and cultural offerings, senior services and the community as a whole.

As part of the meeting’s proceedings, the Council welcomed two newly appointed PRCC commissioners, Charlotte Burns and Audry Wilcox, who will bring new perspectives and a shared commitment to public service. These individuals will help to shape public recreation and the development of open spaces, parks, playgrounds and other recreational facilities and programs throughout town.

“We appreciate the time, effort and passion Jery Melby and Andrea Staehle have devoted to our Town. We are excited to welcome Burns and Wilcox to the PRCC and look forward to their contributions in shaping the future of Yucca Valley,” said Mayor Drozd.
