The City of Lomita called on Tripepi Smith to develop comprehensive communication materials outlining California’s Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383) organic waste recycling requirements.
“Communicating and helping our businesses and residents understand and comply with the new mandates is an ongoing focus for the City of Lomita,” said Lomita Senior Management Analyst Juan Ibarra. “We needed clear, informative materials that would make these complex requirements easier to understand. Tripepi Smith delivered exactly what we needed with their expertise in government communications and environmental regulations.”
Tripepi Smith Principal Jennifer Nentwig led the project, with support from Junior Business Analyst Ted Hwang and Junior Graphic Designer Jenna Haubruge. The team created an informative commercial business flyer detailing SB 1383 requirements and compliance steps, featuring easy-to-understand graphics and clear instructions for proper organic waste sorting. Additionally, the team developed quarterly newsletter articles focusing on timely and relevant spring and summer recycling tips to keep residents and businesses informed about ongoing compliance efforts.
“The SB 1383 communication materials we created for Lomita demonstrate TS’s excellence in presenting complex regulations in an accessible and actionable format,” said Jennifer. “We’re proud to support the City’s commitment to environmental sustainability while helping businesses and residents navigate these new requirements with confidence.”
The communications materials have been distributed throughout the community through city-wide mailings, helping Lomita achieve higher compliance rates while strengthening relationships with local business owners and residents.
