On April 12, the City of Calabasas brought the community together to celebrate Earth Day with the annual Earth Day/ Green Expo. The event successfully inspired environmental awareness, encouraged sustainable living and engendered a sense of shared responsibility for the planet.
Held along the Las Virgenes Creek walking trail, 26520 Agoura Road, the 2025 Earth Day/Green Expo featured 45 exhibitors, including local businesses and community organizations. Booths offered hands-on tips, resources and services to help residents live more sustainably – from water conservation and climate advocacy to battery recycling, clean energy and plant-based living.
“We’d like to give a heartfelt thank you to all of our exhibitors. Your passion and participation were key to making this event successful,” said Melanis Stepanian, the City of Calabasas’ Environmental Management Analyst.
While Earth Day is a special annual event, the City of Calabasas encourages all residents to treat every day like Earth Day, because even small, daily actions can lead to a greener future.
“Earth Day means a lot to me and to our community, most of us moved out here because we love the mountains, hills and the greenery that surround us here in Calabasas, and it’s such an important opportunity to be able to celebrate that on a day like Earth Day,” shared Calabasas Mayor Peter Kraut.
To support residents in properly disposing of various items year-round, the City offers a variety of free Recycling programs, including:
-
E-Waste Collection – upcoming on May 3
-
Used Oil and Water-Based Paint Round-Up – upcoming on May 10
-
At Your Door Special Collection Services, provided by Waste Management
-
Kitchen Pails for organic recycling
-
And more!
Proper disposal of waste can avoid hazardous materials entering our environment or redirect materials in a manner that reduces detrimental emissions. Each day, residents have a chance to make a small but important impact on the future of our environment.
