“I’m committed to getting homes rebuilt as fast as possible,” Mayor Riggins continued. “We’re also investing in community amenities—construction has begun on the Permanent Skate Park, and we’ve started planning an arts center with the Arts Commission. We’ll keep pushing for an independent Malibu Unified School District. Please stay engaged—tell us what you need. I’m excited to work with my fellow Councilmembers and optimistic about Malibu’s future.”
Mayor Pro Tem Bruce Silverstein was sworn in by City Clerk Pettijohn.
The Council thanked the outgoing Mayor, Councilmember Doug Stewart, and presented him with a plaque in recognition for his service to Malibu representing the City, the community, and the Council during his term as Mayor. Stewart was also presented a scroll from Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath.
