The City of Agoura Hills is moving forward with a major sustainability project to replace 1,993 existing High-Pressure Sodium Vapor (HPSV) streetlights with energy efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) fixtures. Through Southern California Edison’s (SCE) LS-1 Option-E Program, the City will transition all SCE-owned streetlights to LED fixtures at no upfront cost. The program will provide consistent lighting throughout Agoura Hills while reducing energy use and lowering long-term costs for the community.
Key benefits of the program include:
• Transitioning all 1,993 SCE-owned streetlights to LED fixtures
• Lowering the City’s energy use and carbon footprint
• Estimated savings of $1,790 annually during the first 20 years and over $2,200 annually
after the recovery period
• Consistent lighting quality with the selection of 2700K LED fixtures, which most closely
match the City’s existing HPSV lights
Following the Labor Day holiday, residents will notice crews in the City beginning to work on
the project. Residents may also notice that the new lights will appear slightly whiter, but will still
be warm in tone.
