The City of Calabasas is excited to announce the launch of the Calabasas Flyer, a new, convenient origin-to-destination transit service designed to connect residents with shopping, social events, dining, medical appointments, schools, jobs and more.
The Flyer Plus program will launch Monday, Sept. 15, for registered Dial-a-Ride users and the Flyer program will launch Saturday, Sept. 20, for general public weekend use. The program replaces the City’s Dial-a-Ride and Microtransit services, offering residents an enhanced, more intuitive booking experience and more efficient service, while maintaining hours, fares and destinations.
The Calabasas Flyer is powered by Via, a global provider of public transit technology and operations that manages successful microtransit programs across Southern California and worldwide.
Rides cost $2.50 within Calabasas city limits or $4 outside city limits. To encourage residents to try the service, rides are free for the first month.
How it works:
- Book a ride through the app by entering pickup and drop-off addresses, and indicating if you’re traveling with additional passengers. Trips can also be booked over the phone through a live agent.
- Select your preferred pickup time. For same-day trips, riders should be ready at the estimated time. For prescheduled trips, riders should be ready at the start of their pickup window.
- Get notified. Riders will receive an automated call or text when a vehicle is nearby. Reminders for prescheduled trips will be sent the day before.
- Meet your driver. Drivers will wait a few minutes at the pickup location.
- Ride together. Trips may include other passengers and additional stops, and can be tracked in real-time through the app.
