The Colusa County Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce the appointment of its leadership for the 2026 term. Supervisor Jose Merced Corona, representing District 1, has been named Chair of the Board, while Supervisor Janice Bell, representing District 5, will serve as Vice Chair.
The transition follows a productive year under the leadership of outgoing Chair Daurice Kalfsbeek Smith, District 2. The Board extends its sincere appreciation to Supervisor Kalfsbeek Smith for her dedicated service and her commitment to the residents of Colusa County throughout 2025.
Incoming Chair Jose Merced Corona, who previously served as Vice Chair, brings a deep commitment to public service to his new role. A retired Sergeant from the Colusa County Sheriff’s Department, Chair Corona has long been a fixture in local governance and community mentorship.
“I am truly honored to step into the role of Chair and look forward to building on the momentum we have established as a Board,” said Chair Corona. “My primary focus this year will be ensuring that we remain fiscally responsible stewards of the public’s resources while continuing to invest in the safety, infrastructure, and well-being of all Colusa County residents. I am committed to a transparent and collaborative process that reflects the values of the hardworking people I represent in District 1 and throughout our great County.”
Joining Chair Corona in leadership is Vice Chair Janice Bell who will support the Chair in presiding over Board meetings and representing the County’s interests at the state and regional levels.
The Chair and Vice Chair serve one-year terms, with the next transition for Board leadership scheduled to take place in early 2027.
