The City of Marina is pleased to announce the appointment of Courtney Lindberg as the new assistant city manager. Lindberg, a seasoned public servant with over 15 years of experience in local government, will oversee key municipal operations and strategic initiatives to support the city’s continued growth.
Lindberg joins Marina from the City of Watsonville, where she served as the director of public works and utilities. During her tenure, she led a department of 200 employees and guided major infrastructure initiatives while advancing strategic planning, policy development and long-term workforce succession and retention efforts.
“The City of Marina is excited to welcome someone with Courtney’s passion for local government service and her experience to our Marina city team,” said Marina City Manager Layne Long.
Throughout her career, Lindberg has built a reputation for effective leadership and collaboration across city, county and regional partners. Her work in Watsonville included overseeing major utility operations and helping develop policies and strategies that supported long-term infrastructure resilience and community needs.
Lindberg is also an active leader in the public works profession and currently serves as president of the American Public Works Association (APWA) Monterey Bay Chapter.
“I am honored to join the City of Marina and look forward to working with the dedicated staff and residents here,” said Lindberg. “Marina is a vibrant, evolving city, and I am eager to apply my experience in infrastructure and public administration to help achieve the City Council’s vision for a resilient and thriving community.”
Lindberg holds a Master of Science in Environmental Science from Oregon State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Rhode Island.
She will begin serving as assistant city manager on Monday, March 9.
