Colusa County is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael “Mike” Wasilchin as its new Director of Human Resources, with an official start date of April 27, 2026.

Mike brings more than 20 years of public sector human resources experience, including 13 years in leadership roles overseeing core HR functions. He currently serves as the Health and Human Services Human Resources Manager for Yolo County, where he has led key initiatives focused on workforce development, policy implementation and organizational effectiveness.

Following a robust, competitive recruitment process, Mike emerged as the top candidate from a highly qualified field of applicants after a thorough evaluation that included multiple interview panels comprising subject-matter experts, executive leadership and key county stakeholders. Mike’s depth of experience, leadership approach and demonstrated ability to drive meaningful improvements in county organizations clearly distinguished him throughout the process.

“Mike’s selection reflects a very deliberate and thorough process to identify the right leader for this critical role,” said Joshua Pack, County Administrative Officer. “His expertise, leadership experience and practical approach to human resources will strengthen our organization and support our employees in meaningful ways. We are excited to welcome Mike to Colusa County and look forward to the impact he will make.”

Outside of work, Mike enjoys fishing, camping, boating and grilling. When he isn’t supporting the County’s workforce, you can usually find Mike on a lake fishing or looking for a good spot to ‘boat in’ camp.

Colusa County welcomes Mike Wasilchin and looks forward to his leadership in strengthening and supporting its workforce.
