The City of La Cañada Flintridge will mark its 50th anniversary on November 30. This is a monumental day for the community; almost half a century ago, the communities of La Cañada and Flintridge officially came together, laying the foundation for the wonderful place so many proudly call home today.
“Looking back on fifty years of La Cañada Flintridge, it’s clear our greatest strength has always been our collaboration and collective spirit,” said Mayor Kim Bowman. “By choosing the anniversary theme, ‘Together for 50 Years,’ we are celebrating the deep-rooted connection that defines us. While we take pride in our beautiful surroundings and safe neighborhoods, this milestone honors the people and partnerships that built the city we love today. As we celebrate this legacy, we are also laying the groundwork for an even more vibrant and sustainable future.”
Throughout this year, the City invites community members and local partners to join us in honoring the people, places and traditions that have shaped La Cañada Flintridge since incorporation. Featured anniversary initiatives include:
- 50th Anniversary Logo Contest: The City invited community members of all ages to channel their creativity into designing the official 50th-anniversary logo. The winning design was announced on May 6, and the new logo will be featured on anniversary communications, promotional materials and special celebration items throughout the year.
- “50 Trees for 50 Years” Initiative: To honor the anniversary and leave a lasting green legacy for future generations, the City launched a campaign to plant 50 new trees across the community over the next 12 months. The initiative officially kicked off during the LCF Earth & Arbor Day Sustainability Celebration. Residents have the unique opportunity to request that one of these 50 commemorative trees be planted in the public right-of-way directly in front of their home.
- Fall Community Celebration: The festivities will culminate in a major community-wide celebration event this fall. Residents can expect food, fun and a wonderful chance to connect with neighbors while celebrating their shared history.
The City encourages community members to get involved and celebrate this milestone together by attending events, following along on the City’s social media channels and using the hashtag #TogetherFor50 to share memories.
