The initial ballot count reflects ballots received and processed as of 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots postmarked by May 5 will continue to be received and processed through May 12, with the final tabulation scheduled for May 14. The Calabasas City Council is expected to certify the election results at its May 27 meeting.
Based on the initial vote totals, Measure K appears to have been approved by voters, with the current unofficial totals standing at 2,166 Yes votes (63.37%) and 1,252 No votes (36.63%). Voter turnout for the election represents approximately 20% of registered voters in Calabasas.
“We appreciate the community’s participation in this election, the time residents took to stay informed on this issue, and the trust they have placed in us,” said Calabasas Mayor James R. Bozajian. “The City remains committed to transparency and accountability.”

Measure K: Calabasas Public Safety/City Services Measure
To maintain Calabasas’ financial stability and general City services, such as preparing for/responding to wildfires; reduce fire risk by managing brush/other fuels/natural areas; maintain 911/Sheriff response; help prevent property crimes/theft/burglaries; keep public areas safe/clean; repairing streets; shall a measure establishing a 1¢ sales tax providing approximately $5,300,000 annually until ended by voters; requiring audits, spending disclosure, all funds locally controlled, be adopted?
Unofficial ballot tabulation (first tabulation) as of May 5, 2026 at 08:11 PM. Vote‑by‑mail ballots that are mailed and postmarked on or before Election Day have 7 days to reach the City Clerk’s Office to be tabulated under California law. Second and final tabulation, as well as the announcement of results, will occur on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Results are not official until the City Council adopts the resolution declaring the results.
