The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada has named the City of Vacaville a 2024 Triple Crown Winner, recognizing the City’s commitment to excellence, transparency, and accountability in financial reporting and budgeting.

GFOA’s Triple Crown designation recognizes governments that have received all three of GFOA’s major awards for a fiscal year: the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The City of Vacaville is one of 441 governments to receive the Triple Crown for fiscal year 2024.

“This recognition reflects the professionalism and dedication of our Finance team and the City’s commitment to responsible stewardship of public funds,” said City Manager Savita Chaudhary. “Clear, accurate, and accessible financial reporting is essential to maintaining public trust and supporting informed decision-making for our community.”

To qualify for the Triple Crown, each government must meet the high standards of all three separate GFOA award programs. Each program recognizes governments that produce financial and budget documents that communicate their financial story in a transparent manner and meet applicable standards.

“This award is a meaningful acknowledgment of the City’s continued focus on transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility,” said Ken Matsumiya. “We are proud to provide financial information that is accessible to the public and useful to policymakers, residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.”

The Government Finance Officers Association advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 35,000 members and the communities they serve.
